CraftifAI closed a $3M seed round led by Ankur Capital in February 2026, with participation from IvyCap Ventures, Capital-A, and Antler. The startup, founded in 2025 by former PhonePe executive Pratik Sharda and ex-Xilinx senior system design engineer Yashwant Dagar, is building CraftifAI Orbit—an agentic AI platform designed to automate embedded software development for edge devices, IoT, and AI-powered hardware. The company plans to deploy capital toward scaling engineering and go-to-market teams and expanding into global markets. Early traction includes pilots with several Indian OEMs across robotics, drones, IoT, and AI camera domains, as well as a US-listed semiconductor company.

The round signals investor appetite for AI-driven automation in traditionally fragmented verticals. Embedded software development has historically relied on manual coding of drivers and firmware—a time-intensive process that creates bottlenecks at scale. CraftifAI’s pitch centers on consolidating this fragmented toolchain into a single AI-driven workflow, automating the full embedded software lifecycle from design through manufacturing. The timing aligns with observable market pressures: the number of connected smart devices is projected to reach over 41 billion by 2030, while the global embedded software engineering workforce stands at approximately 2.5 million—a structural constraint as device complexity rises. Similar bets on AI-powered developer tooling have drawn investor capital across other domains, reflecting broader enthusiasm for AI agents tackling specialized engineering workflows.

Key questions remain unresolved. The announcement does not detail the depth or duration of the OEM pilots, nor specify which customer segments represent the highest-priority near-term revenue targets. Worth watching whether CraftifAI can establish a defensible moat in a category where competing approaches—from traditional semiconductor vendors expanding their toolchains to broader DevOps platforms adding embedded capabilities—may emerge. The open question is also whether the company’s agentic approach can sustain accuracy and reliability standards required in safety-critical hardware applications, where code generation errors carry material cost and liability implications.
